You Were Born For This (mini sermon)

Today I have another mini sermon for you.  This is a message the Lord put on my heart a few months ago.  I pray that whoever is intended to hear this will be encouraged to lay hold of the calling God has for you, despite your perceived weaknesses or limitations.

“Nothing about my birth—or yours—was random or accidental. I was born for this time—and so were you. We were each chosen for a particular, cosmically important task that can be done by no one else.” ―Christine Cain, Undaunted: Daring to Do What God Calls You to Do

Here is a transcript of the message and the music video:

Today I am inspired by Medesa’s song “Born for This”.

It’s a piece composed about the valiant courage, boldness and initiative of Esther as she goes into the king’s throne room, uninvited, to attempt to stop the genocide about to engulf her people.

She broke law.  She disobeyed her husband, a crime her predecessor had just been severely punished for.  She took an unacceptable place of initiation, leadership, influence and acted as a protecter for her people within a male dominate, patriarchal culture.

God called her.  He called a woman.  Despite culture, law and marital relationship.

He called Esther, He called Debora, He called Mary, He called Lydia and Pricilla and Phoebe and Junia and He calls you.  He calls YOU!

He calls you not based on your gender or your circumstances, not because of your talents or abilities.  He isn’t concerned about your personality or weaknesses, your natural or nurtured inclinations.  God doesn’t care about how the vessel looks or what the vessel is perceived to be used for.

God wants to use YOU and it’s time you move forward towards His call whatever that may be, whether or not you are invited, condoned, are given a seat at the table or a voice on the floor.

You were born for a time like this!  You were BORN for this.

The same power that rose Christ from the dead lives in us! (1) Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. (2)

Amen.
